There are various countries that actually consider the ownership of Night Vision Goggles highly illegal and against the law. There was a lady recently who was from Singapore and she purchased a pair for about $950 off the net. They arrived safely at her house despite going through customs.
Personally, I do not care that they did that but the point here is that in that country they are suppose to check the box of stuff as it arrives in there country and when seeing that it was Night Vision Goggles they should of checked the to see if she could legally own them or not. For example if they are of a military hardware status then she can't own them. If not, she can.
The lady was able to obtain Night Vision Goggles from an internet website that sold them without any problems. She had bought them for her boyfriend. He loved them and thought they were really cool to play with. But, soon he grew bored with his new toy and gave them back to her to try to sell on the net. She should not have any issues selling them since they are in high demand worldwide.
The type of Goggles she had obtained were very good but they were not military grade and did not have the proper night optics that are illegal to own by citizens in her country. When the package arrived it was of a factory sealed status and was not opened to be inspected or examined at all.
Quite a number of countries feel threatened by Night Vision Goggles because National Security could be at stake. This is the reason that owning them may be against the law. But, If you contact the proper government office to get permission first however then this is a legal way for you to be able to possess them without breaking any laws.
The worry is that terrorists will get there hands on night vision goggles and be able to spy on our countries government and targets in general, This could give terrorists a leg up in the war on terrorism.
