Carribean Cruise Routes

Great deals on hotels worldwide!

The Carribean Islands are some of the best cruise destinations in the world. With over 50 islands to choose from, visitors are offered a wide choice of vistas, people, and places to meet and mingle. For those people who like to go to the beaches the carribean cruise routes are the perfect spots. Their are plenty of relaxing and nice beaches in the Carribean due to the fact that they are comprised over over 50 islands. The possibility of visiting the same island twice on the popular carribean cruise routes would not most likely happen.

Here is a list of just some choices offered on your basic Carribean Cruise Routes.

There are the Western Carribean Cruise Routes which all leave from Florida, Texas, and Louisiana ports of call. Western Carribean Cruise Routes will go to the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico and then on to the island of Cozumel from there. Leaving from the island of Cozumel the cruise will head to Jamaica and then on to the island's of Honduras and Belize.

Then there are the Eastern Carribean Cruise Routes which are the most popular amoung the choices available for Carribean Cruise Routes. These all leave from Florida and other seaports in the eastern part of the US. The Eastern Carribean Cruise Routes will take you to the Key West Sea, and from their to the Bahamas. hen you will cruise on over to the Turks and Caicos Islands, and on to the Virgin Island's including Puerto Rico.

And third you have the Southern Carribean Cruise Routes. These all leave from the port of San Juan, Puerto Rico. The Southern Carribean Cruise Routes cruise over to the Lesser Antilles and the Netherlands Antilles and then extends on up to the west going to Aruba.

Finally their are the exotic and long-duration Carribean Cruise Routes. You can begin one of these from any one of the previous ports of call we mentioned above. These Carribean Cruise Routes can go in any direction and most of the time these cruises do not end at the place where it began.

When it comes to these Carribean Cruise Routes it can be very hard to determine which island and which route one should take as there are so many available awesome destinations. It is better that you you take some time and gain a little knowledge of the places that you want to go. To even make it tougher to choose there are lots of different activities that you can do on the various different cruises. When it comes to the Carribean Cruise Routes are lots of wonderful places to see. If you are planning to have a vacation, you can't go wrong by choosing a Carribean Cruise Routes experience.

Below is a small list of some of the must see islands when attempting to choose one of the Carribean Cruise Routes.

1) Jamaica - Make sure you stop by and see the Montego Bay. While there make an effort to experience their Bamboo Rafting. It will be an awesome time you will not soon forget!

2) Puerto Rico - While their you will want to visit Condado Beach which is on of the most famous beaches in the world.

3) Grenada - If you want to experience scuba diving at it's finest then Grenada should be your choice of destination. Greada holds one of the largest shipwrecks in the whole of the Carribean's, and has plenty of underwater volcano's to visit when you scuba dive. Even though Grenada has been devastated by hurricane Ivan in 2004 it is still a top place worth visiting.

4) Aruba - The dutch island of Aruba contains some 365 islands. If you are looking for a place to relax and to be one with nature then you can't possibly go wrong with the beaches of Aruba. It is the paradise of the Carribean Cruise Routes.

5) St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands - This is perfect place for snorkeling. The water around St. Thomas is shallow and so crystal clear that you can see numerous underwater species. And there is no better place to go snorkeling while there then at the Cinnamon Bay National Park.

6) St Croix in the Virgin Islands - In St. Croix you can go kayaking, visit the landing site of Christopher Columbus, and go to the Salt River National Park.

7) St Kitts - St Kitts is a one of a kind island on the Carribean Cruise Routes experience. Here you can see lots of turtles and pink sand beaches. Make sure this is to be one of your must visits during your next choice of Carribean Cruise Routes.

2007 Alaska Cruising Preview: Another Blockbuster Year in the Making

    CheapTickets

This is for would-be cruisers who had hoped 2006 would be their year for an Alaska cruise - but things didn't quite work out:

Not to worry. 2007 is coming and you're not going to miss a thing.

Virtually all the lines in the 2006 Alaska cruise trade, with one exception, have announced plans for year 2007 and it's going to be another blockbuster year up north. Alaska-sized choices will vary from the traditional "Inside Passage" sailings from Seattle and Vancouver - a choice that has pleased travelers for more than a century - to "expedition" sailings as far out as the Aleutian Islands chain. At least two lines have scheduled port calls in Russia.

    15 Cruiselines, 45 Vessels

At present, 15 companies have announced plans to dispatch 45 large and small cruising vessels. Sailings will, as usual, cruise steep-walled fjords that make Norwegians homesick. Passengers will view mammoth glaciers (one of them five miles wide at its face) which "calve" giant thundering, splashing, wave-creating icebergs the size of tour buses.

    Sealife, Wildlife

Elsewhere, humpback whales will breach in full view then dive only to rise again, sometimes bursting completely out of the water. Travelers may spot white mountain goats negotiating precarious mountainside paths on lofty precipitious cliffs; along forested or rocky shores cruisers may see brown bears or blackies or Sitka black-tailed deer.

Too, there are authentic 19th century goldrush towns where visitors can still pan for "color" in creeks and streams. Alaska Native communities and cultural centers offer fascinating glimpses into Alaska's rich human history from centuries past.

    Great Variety in Vessels

The ships in Alaska's cruise fleet again vary greatly. They range from large and "mega" floating resorts (guest capacity up to 2,670) down to cruise yachts with staterooms for a pampered dozen. (There are even fewer guests aboard a century-old "tall ship" sailing vessel that accommodates ten.) Too, you can book passage aboard a converted and decidedly upscale former mine sweeper circa World War II, a genuine sternwheel paddle boat, or a completely modern vessel cleverly disguised as a turn-of-the-20th-century coastal packet steamer.

Or, if you're a do-it-yourself cruiser you can plan your own itinerary and port calls by booking stateroom space aboard sailings of Alaska's state ferry system.

Following are the lines that will dispatch their "ships of summer" to Alaska waters in 2007 along with phone contacts and internet URLs. Many companies offer reduced fares for early bookings.

Queen Victoria Master Appointed - Cunard

    Big Bus Company Tours

Cunard veteran Captain Paul Wright to assume command of Cunard's newest Queen.

Captain Paul Wright, a 26 year veteran of Cunard Line, has been appointed master of Queen Victoria, the company's newest ocean liner currently under construction in Venice that will enter service in December 2007, it was announced today.

Captain Wright first went to sea in 1965 as a cadet with Shell Tankers, and quickly progressed to passenger ships in 1969 when he joined Canadian Pacific. His first appointment with Cunard was to Cunard Countess in 1980 and since then he has served on Cunard Princess, Sagafjord and Cunard Dynasty. In 1999, Captain Wright was promoted to Captain of Cunard's flagship Queen Elizabeth 2 where he served until construction began on Queen Mary 2, the largest ocean liner ever built. He oversaw construction of QM2 in St. Nazaire prior to commission, and in 2004 was appointed Master of Queen Mary 2, rotating with the recently retired Commodore Ronald Warwick.

Having sailed to all seven continents, when asked what his most memorable moments at sea have been, Captain Wright cites two: meeting Astronaut Neil Armstrong who was lecturing onboard in the early 1990's and sailing Queen Mary 2 into Hamburg on her maiden call when half a million people lined the shore to greet her.

In commenting on his appointment, Captain Wright says: "I fully expect that sailing Queen Victoria into Southampton for the first time will give me a third most memorable event - and I have no doubt it will be equally memorable for those who turn out to greet us; nothing stirs the imagination quite as much as a new Cunarder arriving in port for the first time. She will be a magnificent vessel built in true Cunard style."

Captain Wright and his wife Linda reside in the United Kingdom in a village near Truro, Cornwall.

Queen Victoria will be a classic Cunarder, offering the characteristics that have become synonymous with Cunard's heritage and traditions combined with the most modern, luxurious furnishings and facilities. But more than that, she will also feature exciting innovations - such as the first private boxes at sea in the Royal Court Theatre, a floating museum housing Cunard memorabilia, and the first two-story library at sea. Queen Victoria will follow the Cunard tradition with her distinctive silhouette black hull and signature red funnel, as well as, elegant classically styled public rooms - many on a grand scale - with an abundance of rich wood panelling, chandeliers and marble.

    QVlandingHeadBanner

With the launch of Queen Victoria in December 2007, three Queens will sail together under the Cunard banner for the first time in our history.

To set eyes on her sleek outline, with her distinctive black and red livery, is to recognise her instantly as the latest Classic Cunarder, a unique marriage of heritage and innovation.

As one of the first guests ever to embark, you will encounter the dramatic three-tier Grand Lobby, whose magnificent staircase and eye-catching artwork offers a lavish taste of life aboard. Walk around the ship and you’ll see elaborate chandeliers adorn the Queens Room double height ceiling to enhance its calm grandeur.

The Winter Garden is all light and relaxation, very much colonial in tone, with decked floors and leafy foliage – its glass roof even opens to the warm breeze.

Elegant and stylish, every public room will create a unique ambience where our renowned White Star Service™ will continue to surpass expectations.

Take your place in history and be among the first to experience the unveiling of this Classic Cunarder on her Maiden World Cruise in 2008.

Queen Mary 2 Hailed As the Grandest Ship At Sea

Just as her predecessor once did, the Queen Mary 2 has taken the world by storm. Hailed as the grandest ship at sea, the Queen Mary 2 is the largest, longest, tallest, widest and most expensive ocean liner ever built to date, according to Cunard Line. Without exaggeration, the Queen Mary 2 is truly a wonder worthy of her royal heritage.

Her sheer size is a marvel. As long as 41 double-decker buses and 147 feet longer than the Eiffel Tower is tall, the Queen Mary 2 boasts 157,000 horsepower and a whistle that can be heard for 10 miles. She holds 2620 passengers and 1253 crew members. Width and breadth are but measures. There are no measures for the magic she holds for those who come aboard.

As you navigate through the Queen Mary 2, you'll notice exquisite touches, including high ceilings, outstanding artwork, and distinctive appointments and color schemes. The largest ballroom at sea and the largest dance floor afloat are just two of the exclusive and impressive features you'll note during your voyage.

    Expand Your Horizons

Among the other amenities are a world-renowned Canyon Ranch SpaClub™ and a state-of-the-art gym outfitted with the most popular exercise equipment available. Queen Mary 2 also offers unique enrichment programs designed to allow guests to expand their horizons and reach their personal goals.

Those who have always wanted to try their hands at acting can study under instructors from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts while onboard. Pursue your love of oceanography or attend seminars at the first planetarium at sea. With book signings, workshops and seminars on a wide range of topics, every passenger will find a world of interesting and imaginative activities to participate in.

    Exceptional Accommodations for Every Budget

A choice of accommodations is available from the economical to the enormous. Spacious inside and outside staterooms are offered, many with balconies. Larger junior suites and full-sized suites are designed to offer more space by providing tables and chairs and additional square footage. For those who truly want to travel in style, royal suites, penthouse suites, duplexes and "Queen" suites are also available.

Over three-quarters of the cabins onboard offer balconies and/or decks, along with ocean views, and each exudes a regal décor of light, airy colors. Many staterooms have a desk, a wardrobe area and a sitting area with sofa, along with a bed. Each cabin is outfitted with a refrigerator and interactive TV.

    World-Class International Cuisine

Food has always been a highlight on Cunard cruise ships, and the Queen Mary 2 is no exception. Headlined by TV culinary icon Todd English, the cuisine aboard the Queen Mary 2 is simple superlative. The Mediterranean fare featured at the Todd English restaurant is fully representative of English's world-class Olives of Boston restaurant. English was named one of People magazine's "50 Most Beautiful People" and has also attained accolades as Best Chef and received the Award for Culinary Excellence.

Nine other restaurants are located throughout the Queen Mary 2, including those that boast Asian, Italian and American dishes. Casual buffets are also readily available for those who prefer less elaborate dining options. Each afternoon, in typical British fashion, tea is served in an elegant manner with white-glove service. Featured are a range of freshly brewed teas, along with scones, pastries and finger sandwiches.

Cruising onboard the Queen Mary 2 is no time to count calories. You'll want to relish in all the delectable meals and desserts available during your voyage.

    Family-Friendly

The Play Zone is designed to offer age-appropriate activities for children and teens. Divided into two sections, children and teenagers can find a brightly colored atmosphere with activities that entertain and inspire them on their levels.

Nanny-equipped, The Play Zone is always supervised to ensure a safe experience for every child and young adult who visits.

    Party Like A Princess

When night falls, the G32 club or other bars and pubs are available for those who want to dance 'til dawn. If a high-tech atmosphere, bright lights and loud music aren't for you, other options are available, including a champagne bar.

With outstanding ships, including the Queen Mary 2, there is little wonder that parent company Cunard (a subsidiary of Carnival Corporation) was named the 2005 winner of the "Best Luxury Cruise Line" and "Cruise Line of the Year" by the British Travel Association.

If elegance and pampering are on your agenda, cruising aboard the Queen Mary 2 is simply a must. The grandest ship at sea won't let you down.

If you have decided to book Crystal's world cruise, do not procastinate by waiting for the best deal. It is a fact that world cruises never go on sale, and my prediction is that Crystal's world cruise will be sold out by early 2007. Going on a cruise for 108 days, you want to make sure that you have the cabin of your choice, and on the deck that you prefer. Not to mention, having your preferred dining times! Make sure to call your travel agent as soon as possible to get the best deal!

Of course, since you are cruising with the best, your world cruise includes:

  • Round Trip Airfare
  • Chauffered private car transfers between your home, airport, and Crystal Serenity before and after the cruise
  • Overnight luxury hotel accomodations and a gala bon voyage party in Los Angeles before embarkation
  • Pre-paid gratuities
  • Two exclusive shoreside gala events and eight Crystal Adventures shore excursion
  • CruiseBank of $1000 per person shipboard credit

Like most world cruises, you can book the segments separately or combine several segments, if you prefer not to take the full world cruise. However, chances are, you will be put only on a waitlist for a cabin. Your travel agent might require a deposit to hold your booking.

Don't forget to send us folks here at Cruise Headlines a postcard from your cruise!

Single Cruisers Can Go With A Group Or on Their Own

    A. B. Lambdin

Single cruising is a lot of fun because of the friendly people you meet. Many cruise lines have special parties for single cruising passengers so that you can get to know your other single cruisers.

However, if you are a first time cruiser it is recommended that you go on an organized single cruise. There are a lot of reasons for this. First of all you are guaranteed that there will be other singles on board. As a group you will have all kinds of special activities. The first night of your cruise the group will hold a cocktail party. It is a kind of "getting to know" you soiree for the entire single cruising group. There are other advantageous, sometimes they arrange a hotel stay the night before the cruise so you will already know who your fellow single cruisers are. During the cruise they will host games, organize group tours and of course, group dining. The organizers sometime set up message boards so the group can talk before the singles cruise begins.

Don't try to go around the travel agency that is organizing the singles cruise because you think you can get it cheaper. Yes, you will be on the cruise with all the singles, but you won't be able to participate in the activities. The organizing travel agency will issue identification for the group of single cruisers and will have security at the functions so there will be no crashing the party. I spoke to a guy once who tried to do this and found out to late that he would be excluded. He even tried to pay to get into the activities but that was not allowed, so he missed out.

There are always questions on whether or not you should book a single cabin or take the risk of a roommate assigned by either the cruise line or the organizing travel agency. This depends on how agreeable you are. Of course, you might end up with someone who is rude, so you are taking a chance. If you don't want to take the chance, book your own cabin which will be a bit more expensive.

The travel agency will try to pick someone that is compatible. Criteria such as age, a smoker or not, and naturally, sex are used when trying to match cabin mates. If you opt to let them choose a cabin mate they may supply you an email address to contact the cabin mate so you can set some rules in advance. Find out what your cabin mates sleep habits are. If you're an early riser and your cabin mate likes to party, there will be a problem. Be flexible, the other person may want to set some rules too. The biggest problem with a stranger in the cabin on a singles cruise is that they might meet someone special and want to use the cabin for a few hours with you not in it.

The organizing travel agency will set up the dining arrangements. If after the first night you are uncomfortable with your table talk to the Maitre D' he will help you. From the information I have gotten, the organizing travel agency will usually mix the tables up every night so that everyone has a chance to interact. That is the ideal solution. If you have taken the plunge solo and booked your own cruise the same goes for you, speak to the Maitre D' and he will help you. Many ships now have a variety of dining options where you and pick where you want to eat and when.

Younger single cruisers should stick to three and four day cruises. One, because they're cheaper and two, you don't use up a lot of vacation time. Pick a three day cruise on a weekend that falls on a holiday and you won't use up any vacation time at all. Three days is a short time to meet people, but single cruisers are sailing with the intention of meeting people so they won't be shy. If you booking this on your own, research which cruise lines offer special single cruising dates. The over 40 crowd will be on longer cruises because they have more money and time.

If you are a single parent and you want to cruise with your kids choose a line that has a good children's program. That way your kids are supervised and you are free to do what you please. Many travel agencies are catering to this need and are setting up single cruises for parents and their kids. So do some research to find agencies that are offering a program for single parent cruisers with children.

If you are a single cruiser and you don't want to go on an organized single cruise, there are message boards out there where people post that they are looking for a roommate. It's a gamble, but if you really want to take a cruise and need to save money it is an option. There are two ways to do this. Choose a singles cruise; get the prices and the post a message to see if there are any takers. Or pick a date or an itinerary, do your post and see if anyone else is interested. It's risky but if someone answers your post you have plenty of time to talk over the internet to see if you are compatible.

Single cruising is fun but don't set your heart on finding that special someone. Take a single cruise with the idea of having fun and meeting new people that may become fast friends. Chances that you will meet your life mate are very small but it will be fun trying. Maybe, when you least expect it, your dream will come true.

For more mature female cruiser, look to the fancier cruise lines. They are a bit pricier but they usually have dance hosts and will seat you with the single gentlemen for dining.

Some cruise lines have seen the advantage of attracting single cruisers and have lessened the single supplement. In the past Crystal, Radisson and Sliversea have reduced their single cruisers supplements. These are all luxury lines.

For you single cruisers who want to brave it on your own here are some cruise lines that offer single cabins.

Cunard's QE2 was built with 122 single cabins, the new Queen Mary 2 has none. Besides the QE2, only Costa, Peter Deilmann Cruises, Holland America, NCL, Orient Line and Swan Hellenic still have a few single cabins on some of their ships, and these tend to be the older ships. One exception to the rule is Discovery World Cruises. While their ship MV Discovery has only two dedicated single cabins, 169 double cabins are also designated as singles and sold at a single rate. Peter Deilmann Cruises also offers a single rate on double cabins on most of their river ships.

Call your travel agent and talk about single cruising and what's best for you.

    Happy Cruising!

Extend Your Cruise Vacation Without Breaking The Bank

Most cruiselines offer pre and post hotel packages to compliment your cruise booking. I always tell my clients to take advantage of that offer if they are new to cruise travel. What if your plane is late coming in and you miss your cruise? Or what if the cruise does not make it back on time for you to take your flight out? Not only that, you will also get a chance to see the port city's attractions. Would you really just want to fly in, take your cruise and fly back out?

For the savvy cruisers, I always recommend that they book their own hotels. Repeat cruisers always know that booking your hotel with the cruiseline is more expensive. There are so many hotel deals available on the internet and membership discounts that are not available to you if you book with the cruiseline. You can save your cruise travel dollars, and spend it on enjoying the city.

Whether your cruise is departing from Honolulu, San Diego, Port Canveral, Miami, Tampa, New Orleans, New York, Galveston, Los Angeles, Vancouver, or anywhere worldwide, there is always a good deal to be had. Here are some hotel coupons you can use for your upcoming cruise:

  • Save between $20 and $100 on ALL Hotel Bookings Now!

Send us an email if you are looking for a specific hotel coupon that is not listed. We will be happy to locate it for you if it is available.

So what ammeneties does the Costa Concordia have?
  • There is a fitness area on two decks, covering a total of almost 20,450 square ft., with a swimming pool in its center.

When do I tip on my Cruise?

    LastMinuteTravel.com

    by Cindy Bertram

When is tipping expected, and exactly how are tips handled on cruise vacations? These are legitimate questions passengers face today, because cruise line policies have changed over the past few years. In the earlier days of cruising, gratuities were extended at the end of the cruise via cash only, with suggested amounts given per staff member per day. Usually this covered waiter and assistant, as well as the cabin steward or stewardess. Gratuities were considered an essential element of staff members' wages. Rather than tipping after each meal, on the last evening of the cruise, tip envelopes were put in passengers' staterooms to be used that evening. One company that did not recommend gratuities amounts back in the 1980s and early 1990s was Holland America.Line - gratuities could be extended if the service was exception.

    NCL Simplifies the Gratuity System

In 2000 Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) launched "Freestyle Cruising." Part of this program simplified the gratuity system by automatically adding a $10 per person per day charge, which could be adjusted by the guest, to the onboard account. Other cruise lines lines per person, per day include $3.00 for the waiter, $1.50 for the waiter's assistant, $1.00 for the head waiter, and $3.00 for the steward. Costa also allows groups to prepay gratuities.Like some of its counterparts, Carnival Cruise Lines has also adopted the $10.00 per person per day gratuity charge, which can be adjusted at the Purser's Desk. The maitre d' is not included in this, and can be tipped at the guest's discretion. The company advises onboard staff which guests have prepaid gratuities.

    Gratuities on the Shipboard Account

NCL now calls gratuities "service fees." If a problem occurs during the cruise, NCL asks that guests bring this to their immediate attention.According to Heather Krasnow,Public Relations Manager, "We ask that guests come to us with a problem if there is one, so that we have the opportunity to fix the problem rather than just adjusting the service charges at the end of the week. If we don't know about the problem, we can't fix it." In addition, the service fee cannot be prepaid in advance;NCL's thought is the service fee is charged to the shipboard account because it is adjustable.

    Gratuities for Spa Services

Spa services' gratuities also vary. Costa Cruises builds the gratuity into the fee.The same holds true for Cunard Line,Celebrity Cruises and Royal Caribbean.Cruise lines whose spa treatments do not automatically include the gratuity include Holland America Line, Princess Cruises, MSC Cruises.

    Passport Requirements for Cruise Passengers

Click here for last second holidays

American citizens going on a cruise to the Caribbean, Alaska and Mexico departing from a U.S. port do not need to worry about carrying a passport until January 1, 2008. A birth certificate and driver's license will be accepted for re-entry to the US.

Although the WHIT - Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative - regulations will not go into effect for at least a year, advance notice is being provided to encourage cruise passengers to obtain their passports. This new requirement is designed to improve border security and help officials identify a traveler quickly and accurately. In anticipation of this new law, some cruise lines have already started to require passports for their upcoming 2007 itineraries. By January 1, 2008, everyone travelling by sea between the U.S. and Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Bermuda by sea will be required to present a valid passport.

Why wait until the last minute to get your passport? If you are an avid cruiser, now is the time to get it. We all know that carrying a passport is going to be a mandatory travel requirement so avoid the rush! More people will be applying closer to the deadline. Typical wait time to receive a passport is about 8 weeks!

To apply for a passport, you will need to go in person to one of the passport acceptance facilities - probate courts, post offices, public libraries, federal and municipal offices. You will need to bring two photographs of yourself, proof of U.S. citizenship, and a valid form of photo identification such as a driver’s license.

To know more about the new travel regulations, please visit the U.S. Department of State and the US Department of Homeland Security websites.
