By Stephen Daniels

Sea Isle City, New Jersey is a popular vacation choice among travelers. This small oceanside town features much to see and do, and it has been voted as one of the best beaches on the Eastern Seaboard for vacations.

If you're looking for a great beach vacation on the East Coast, Sea Isle City is an ideal location. There are a myriad of annual events and unique activities that are planned specifically for tourists and visitors to the area. The activities and attractions available are sure to provide something for everyone.

A fisherman's paradise, the city attracts thousands of anglers to the area each year. Fluke and bluefish fishing are popular activities. Some boats leave from Sea Isle for overnight or even multiple-day deep sea fishing trips on the Atlantic Shelf. Outstanding recreational fishing as well as sunset boat charters are abundant in both Sea Isle City and nearby Ocean City.

While the summer months are the most popular for visiting this charming beachfront town, Sea Isle City offers year round tourist appeal. Many of the shops, restaurants, and other sites on the boardwalk and promenade are open for business all year, and the many options for dining and shopping that this area affords are sure to please just about anyone. In February, the city also plays host to the infamous Polar Bear Plunge.

Sea Isle City's variety of spring events feature the Ocean Drive Marathon in March, the annual surf fishing tournament in May and the sand sculpting demonstration in June. Live music is offered from spring through fall.

Tourism on the New Jersey seaboard reaches its peak in July and August. Visiting in July affords a calendar chock full of activities like weekly "Movies Under the Stars" shows, the rugby tournament, the Phillies Home Run Derby, and the Fourth of July fireworks over the ocean. August's abundant offerings include more movie nights, flea markets, family night dance parties every week, and many more live music events.

Fall brings plenty to do as well, with the Irish Festival and sand sculpting activities in September. October in Sea Isle City features Harborfest, a variety of fundraisers and charity events, the Italian Festival and a surfing competition that is held annually.

Traditional holiday celebrations are also a hallmark of Sea Isle charm, benefitting greatly from its small town ambiance. From the Halloween parade and costume contest to the tree lighting ceremony and Santa events for Christmas, holidays in Sea Isle City offer something for almost everyone.

If you're in town and looking for activities and attractions, it is easiest to visit the promenade on JFK Boulevard. The planned events of the day are posted there. Unless there is a clearly stated venue for an activity or event that you find on your vacation, almost all the events will take place at the promenade, which is THE place to go for all the fun!
