Stuck For Holiday Ideas? Try A Cruise

By Sarah Van Rensburg

If you want to go on holiday but don't want to leave your internet service behind you should consider a cruise holiday. The cruise ships of today offer internet service, cell phone service, HDTV, and satellite radio and television that will make you feel like you never left home, at least until you go up on deck and see the swimming pool and recreation area they also have. Once there you might wonder why you even brought your computer with you.

Cheap cruises, like river and lake cruises, may not offer the same level of luxury but they still don't require that you leave the world of modern technology behind. Your personal communications devices will work just fine in most parts of the world and the same GPS technology on your mobile phone will help your boat captain know where he is going and what lies ahead. Additional gadgets on board ship will ensure you get there safely.

Once you decide that you're going on a cruise for your next holiday, where will you go? You could choose a tropical location like the Caribbean or Mediterranean, but what about something more remote, like Antarctica or the polar ice cap? Cruise ships travel to these regions at certain times of the year and what you'll see there will be a once in a lifetime experience, something you can't find on any white sandy beach.

The ancient wonders of the world are available for viewing at ports-of-call that cruise ships on the Mediterranean and the oceans surrounding Europe, Africa and Asia stop at frequently. There are also river cruises available on the Nile, the Tigris, the Euphrates, the Danube, and the Rein, all providing you pieces of culture and history that have helped to form the modern world that we live in today. You can even cruise along the Tiber or the Thames and view the seats of two empires.

If you're looking for more tropical beaches try the Mexican or Mayan Riviera cruises that originate in North America. You can tour the Caribbean or the warm waters of the Pacific off Baja and see the cities where night life and holidaying takes priority over everything. You could also try a South American cruise, perhaps an Amazon River cruise if you want something a little different. The Western hemisphere offers all of the same attractions that the eastern hemisphere does, including hidden cities built by lost civilizations. You'll want to visit one of those if you get a chance.
