Planning A Trip: A New York Pass Review

By Patty Lauwers

Visitors and tourists to the city that never sleeps will benefit from a New York Pass review. The New York Pass is a virtual tourist treat. The pass allows the cardholder access to over fifty different attractions and tours. The card contains a smart chip which facilitates entry. For a full city experience, the New York pass can be an invaluable tool.

There are fifty attractions where the card holder does not have to pay or stand in line. Some of these attractions are the Museum of Modern Art, Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, Guggenheim, Queens Zoo, Lincoln Center, and ever the Circle Line. There is also a fast track or priority entry granted to pass holders. In addition, card members receives the New York Guidebook, a one hundred and forty page literal encyclopedia for the New York tourist.

The obvious benefit of such a pass is the savings. The pass is a one price option, hence, visitors don't have to pay separately for each attraction. The price is inclusive. Furthermore, the pass is valid for a year meaning it can be used at any point within a year span. However, once used the pass is only valid for the time period allotted on the pass. There are one, three, and seven day passes available. There are also hop on and off bus passes that are available for two, three, and seven day spans.

The pass can also be purchased with insurance. Therefore, any unused passes that expire within the year of purchase can be returned for a full refund. This can be an ideal option especially if one does not know the exact timing of their visit. In addition, it can be an added protection if given as a gift.

Aside from the nifty fifty attractions, the card provides discounts of up to seventy percent on other tours, as well. Also, there are over thirty other benefits included with the Pass. For example, shopping discounts are available at some of the larger retail stores, such as Macy's and Bloomingdale's. Broadway show tickets can also be purchased for twenty five percent less than face value with the card.

Cardholders also get discounts on a number of Manhattan eateries. Some of these eateries would include, Cold Stone Creamery, Planet Hollywood, and Dylan's Candy Bar. The World Yacht Dining Cruise actually gives a bottle of champagne to adult couples with a New York pass. Another benefit for tourists is an improved exchange rate. Change New York discounts currency exchange rates by 1% for card carriers.

However, the Pass is not just for outside tourists. There are many New Yorkers who have not necessarily taken the time to visit all the sights of New York. This pass can help provide that opportunity. The New York Guide Book can be a helpful reference, in the worse case. Most Pass holders will likely travel to the same locations during the one, three, or seven day time period. Hence, seeing the same people over a period of time can help build new bonds and even a better understanding of people from different lands.

Logistically, the Pass can be purchased online or through the phone. Delivery costs are extra depending on fast one requires the card. The best solution is to simply pick up the card upon arrival. This has no extra surcharge. New York is not the only city with such a pass and travelers to other destinations should check to see if those cities offer similar options. In short, the Pass in a cost effective and valuable tool for all types of tourists.
