Honeymoon Havens

By Ava Mason

Planning your honeymoon and want the perfect location? It is hard work we know. Whatever time of year you're getting married we've a world guide to help you chase the sun and romance!

January - Australia has its summer in full swing, but avoid the tropical north where it's the wet season. Sydney, for example, would make a perfect city honeymoon. Try the Caribbean is the paradise option with prices falling after the Christmas and New Year rush. Florida has an average of seven to nine hours daily sunshine, and temperatures in the Canaries are reasonably reliable - the equivalent of a good UK summer's day.

February - Gambia, Goa and the Kenyan coast are good winter sun getaways, and February is one of the driest months for a safari.

March - For a truly unique honeymoon head to Nepal which enjoys a pleasant climate this month, with Spring flowers in full bloom. Seville is a mass of orange blossom, and early Spring sunshine makes this an ideal city break destination.

April - Try La Gomera, the quieter island in the Canaries, also Madeira, and Marrakech - all under five hours flying time, and fresh and warm in Spring. Southern Spain and Turkey are perfect too in April - with moderate temperatures and plenty of guaranteed sunshine. A far and away honeymoon destination still with reliable weather in April is the Caribbean - the official end of the high season.

May - The east coast of America and the sunshine state of California are ideal at this time - prices are reasonable too. For glitz and glamour head to Las Vegas and the Nevada desert before it gets too hot!

June - Bali has its peak season in June so they'll be plenty of sun, stunning beaches and fascinating culture to enjoy. Australia's tropical north, including the islands of the Great Barrier Reef, is now dry and warm. Chase the midnight sun and midsummer parties in Scandanavia.

July - The Mediterranean with its sizzling temperatures seems an obvious choice but it may get too hot for some! Further a field the Canadian Rockies offer spectacular scenery and plentiful sunshine.

August - Europe has its peak season in full swing so tends to be hot and pricey. Paris is surprisingly quiet at this time of year since most European tourists and Parisians head to the Med.

September - Long haul best bets include Mauritius. The Mediterranean resorts and cities have also cooled down and are quieter for sightseeing.

October - Enjoy the fall in North America's New England - plenty of sunshine brings out the glorious autumnal landscape. The Far East cities of Hong Kong and Singapore are at their best too with reduced humidity.

November - Try Mexico - the odd shower won't blight warm temperatures. Thailand is cooler now and certainly has less tropical heat.

December - Sunny Dubai is at its best - perfect for shopping and plenty of chance to soak up the winter sun. The Maldives has to be a bankable honeymoon destination - simply stunning at this time of year. The North African resorts of Tunisia and Morocco make unique sun-based destinations for a Christmas honeymoon.
