The Caribbean is an appropriate setting to explore the mysteries of cocoa and chocolate since Columbus discovered cocoa beans in a Mayan canoe on his third voyage to the New World in 1502; he may have known they were used as money, but he never learned of the marvelous beverage the Mayans made from the beans.
